What to expect during an eVisit
Apr 24, 2020
These days, many events, gatherings and tasks are taking place virtually — from school to socializing and even receiving important medical care.
To help you stay well without ever having to leave home, Baylor Scott & White Health has expanded our virtual care options. From video visits to messaging directly with your primary care physician, these virtual care options are designed to help you stay healthy, manage ongoing medical conditions and get quick care for any new health issues that arise.
One virtual care option that’s fast and safe is an eVisit.
What is an eVisit?
An eVisit lets you receive an online diagnosis and treatment plan for common medical conditions. All you have to do is fill out a short survey explaining a little about yourself and your symptoms. Depending on your condition, the survey typically only takes 5-10 minutes to complete.
A Baylor Scott & White provider who has secure access to your medical record will review your eVisit and can even prescribe medication to your preferred pharmacy, if necessary.
Providers are available to review completed eVisits from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day. If you complete your eVisit survey after 8 p.m., you will receive a response the next morning.
For most patients, an eVisit is $40. The only insurances billed are the Scott & White Health Plan and DFW ConnectedCare.
What can be treated at an eVisit?
An eVisit is a fast, affordable and secure way to receive basic medical care from the safety of your home.
Some examples of conditions we can treat with an eVisit include:
- COVID-19 screening
- Cold, flu and allergies
- Skin conditions
- Tobacco cessation
- Stomach/digestive issues
- Minor eye conditions
- Vaginal yeast infection
- Bladder infection (UTI)
In some cases, the provider may determine that you may need a virtual care video visit to receive treatment.
How do you sign up for an eVisit?
Before you start an eVisit, you’ll need to log in to MyBSWHealth. If you don’t have an account, text BETTER to 88408 to download the MyBSWHealth App, or visit MyBSWHealth.com.
If the eVisit is for a minor, the parent or legal guardian must also have an account linked to the minor’s account to act as proxy. If you need help, call 855.691.0180.
