McLane Children's is happy to announce the dates for 2025
The five-day program provides students enrolled in their high school's health sciences curriculum a “behind the scenes” look into pediatric healthcare.
Students who are accepted will observe multiple departments within the hospital/clinics – Neonatal Intensive Care, Physical Therapy, Radiology, Oncology etc. They will be given the opportunity to shadow healthcare professionals, receiving a firsthand look at healthcare.
The camp is available to current 9th - 12th grade students. Students must commit to all five days.
There will be two camp sessions this summer, held from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM daily.
Session I: June 16th – 20th (Orientation is on June 13th at 2:30 – 4:00 PM)
Session II: July 14th – 18th (Orientation is on July 11th at 2:30 – 4:00 PM)
Applications will be accepted through May 1st for Session I, and May 31st for Session II.
How to get started
Step 1: Complete online application
All students must complete the online applications form that can be found at the bottom of this page.
Step 2: Complete student essay
Each student is expected to provide an essay, including the following topics:
- Describe your career interests and how you would benefit from attending the Health Sciences Summer Camp. (Minimum 200 – 250 words)
- What would you consider your most important achievement and why? (Minimum 200 words)
- Why should you be selected to attend the Health Sciences Summer Camp? (Minimum 100 words)
Step 3: Obtain recommendation letters
Students are required to have two recommendation letters submitted by a teacher, coach, youth group leader, etc. Recommendation letters cannot not be submitted by parents and/or family members.
