Her words were thoughtful and themselves healing. She gently challenged my beliefs about my health, which I'd marked as "fair." She said she thought it was "good." This allowed me to rethink my perceptions of myself and my health. When I was providing bedside care as a chaplain, this is what I aspired to do when I saw patients. I couldn't prescribe so the only thing I had to offer was words. She accomplished both. | |
