Through patient data collection and analysis, PGY2 Critical Care residents develop the knowledge and skills to provide patient-specific and evidence-based pharmacotherapy while functioning as independent practitioners
Our PGY2 Critical Care residents function as integral members of the critical care team in order to acquire practical clinical experienceIn addition, valuable leadership and research skills are developed through participation in code blue response, critical care-related multidisciplinary committees, teaching and completion of a research project. Graduates from the residency program will be well prepared to pursue positions as a clinical specialist, clinical faculty, and board certification.
Residents function as co-preceptor for pharmacy students and PGY-1 pharmacy residents. Residents also attend and actively participate in code response throughout the residency year and co-precept the PGY-1 residents in this setting.
Residents are required to staff up to every third weekend, alternating between clinical specialist and order verification roles.
Baylor University Medical Center's (BUMC) PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency has been ASHP-accredited since 2007. We currently accept one resident each year.
