About invasive cardiovascular technology

Invasive Cardiovascular Technology (ICVT) is used to diagnose and treat patients with various degrees of cardiovascular disease specifically related to the heart. Sophisticated equipment is used to enter the body (i.e., invasive) through peripheral arteries or veins in order to study the vessels, valves and chambers of the heart, and to diagnose and treat disease. A trained ICVT specialist assists a team of healthcare professionals in the cardiac catheterization laboratory.

The Cardiovascular Institute utilizes multiple Baylor Scott & White facilities for clinical externship training with a 1:1 clinical instructor to student ratio, which provides an excellent clinical education for each student. Experienced instructors, sophisticated audiovisual (A/V) equipment and classrooms, and a challenging didactic schedule combined with real-world clinical experience make the Cardiovascular Institute a competitive career choice in the Allied Health field in Cardiovascular Invasive Technology.

Baylor Scott & White the Heart Hospitals Cardiovascular Institute Invasive Technology Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the JRC-CVT.
