Emergency care

Our emergency care services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and treat major emergency conditions, including:

• Blue or purple color to lips, skin, or nail beds 
• Chest or stomach pain or pressure 
• Coughing up blood
• Difficulty breathing 
• Fainting
• Heart attack
• Puncture wounds 
• Seizure
• Severe bleeding or bleeding that does not stop with direct pressure
• Severe burns or burns on the face 
• Severe pain or loss of motion or sensation anywhere in the body
• Shortness of breath
• Stroke

• Trouble breathing, swallowing or wheezing

Eye care

Our ophthalmologists and optometrists diagnose, manage, and innovatively treat routine and specialty eye conditions and diseases, including:

Heart & Vascular Institute

Our team of cardiologists, surgeons, interventional radiologists on the medical staff and healthcare professionals works together to provide you quality care for a range of heart and vascular conditions.

We offer a comprehensive program that includes heart disease prevention, advanced diagnosis and treatment options and continued care and support for patients living with heart and vascular conditions.

Imaging and radiology

Advanced imaging technology provides clearer pictures for radiologists and other specialty physicians on the medical staff to provide a more accurate diagnosis that leads to a customized treatment plan, if needed, to start the healing process.

Inpatient medicine and hospitalists

Our hospitalists or inpatient medicine physicians provide care during your full stay at the hospital starting upon your hospital admission and coordinate with your primary care physician and helps with your discharge.

Mammogram and breast imaging

Our imaging centers provide potentially life-saving 2D and 3D mammograms and clinical breast exams to screen for breast cancer and other conditions that impact women and refer to specialty treatments and services, including:

Lung care

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Taylor offers diagnostic and treatment options to manage and treat acute and chronic respiratory and pulmonary disorders.

Pulmonologists on our medical staff study and treat diseases of the lungs, airways and chest, care for the very sick in critical care units, as well as treat sleep disorders. If surgery is required, we have physicians on the medical staff specially trained in thoracic surgery.

Skilled nursing

After surgery or a severe illness, a patient may need professional care to aid in recovery transition from hospital to home. Patients recovering from illness or injury such as stroke, heart attack, cardiac surgery, hip and knee replacements, pneumonia, wound infections and dehydration can benefit from skilled nursing services.

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Taylor is unique in offering this level of post-acute care or "swing bed service" which is not available in most acute care hospitals. The professional skilled nursing staff at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Taylor can provide a complete spectrum of care for the recovering patient (as prescribed by a physician) including:

An automated teller machine (ATM) is available in the lobby of the specialty clinic/day surgery department on the first floor.

Concierge and information desk

Visitor information/concierge desks are located in the main entrance of the medical center, where staff can assist you with general information, maps, notary public services and local eateries/hotel listings.

Public-use telephones can be found in the emergency department lobby on the first floor.

Dining options

Visitors may visit the Café for light meals or order food trays from the dietary department. Contact a staff member for ordering assistance. Some local food establishments will deliver food to the main entrance of the hospital.

Medical records

You can request copies of your medical records by completing an Authorization for Release of Information form and returning to the facility at which you received care.

Security officers regularly patrol the Taylor campus. To inquire about lost or found items, please contact 737.888.3100.

Visitor lounges

There are designated lounges for visitors on patient floors. Specific areas have been designated for guests in other areas. If you are in a large group, we ask for your consideration of other patients’ families when seating is limited. Wireless laptops can be used in most areas by connecting to our visitor wireless network. Charging stations and outlets are also available in select lounge areas.

Please restrict your use of these devices to visitor lounges and non-patient care areas.
