Gather, learn, empower

As part of our dedication to the health and wellness of the communities we serve, Baylor Scott & White continues to invest in programs focused on healthy living. The Robert Conte Wellness Center empowers patients to live well by offering a space to gather and learn health enriching behaviors, through engaging health education programs and topics that are specific to their wellness needs. The Robert Conte Wellness Center is located next to Baylor Scott & White Clinic - College Station Midtown

Dr. Robert Conte

The center is named in honor of the late Dr. Robert Conte. As a physician, Dr. Conte was passionate about helping people navigate what he called the “uncharted journey” of healthy aging. Dr. Conte raised cattle in the Brazos Valley and served on the board of directors for Baylor Scott & White in College Station. After he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, he gained new perspective about the value of identifying tools for coping with his symptoms. His legacy is a place where patients can learn the skills to manage their own health with the support of a community of others with similar conditions.

Patient profile: Matthew

Having lived with Type 1 diabetes for most of his life, Matthew has always been conscious of his health. His doctor referred him to the Power of You class at the Robert Conte Wellness Center, where he saw results in his mood, blood sugar levels, cardiovascular health and weight.

“I’ve been through a lot of nutrition classes, trying to find a strategy for maintaining good blood sugar,” Matthew said. “Most of those are a half-hour meeting with someone who doesn’t know anything about my life. This was more long-term to help me change habits and get on a routine, with input from my doctor who knows my whole health history.”
