The Baylor Scott & White Research Institute (BSWRI) Research Analytics team routinely leverages electronic clinical data from across the Baylor Scott & White Health system to generate high-quality, real-world evidence.

Our team brings together more than 60 biostatisticians, research analysts, programmers, project managers and doctoral-level investigators dedicated to research analytics support. With hundreds of peer-reviewed publications and extensive experience executing grant-funded and industry-funded studies, we provide investigators and collaborators with the expertise needed to advance meaningful research.

Data Core

Our Data Core provides rigorously validated analytic datasets built from Baylor Scott & White's electronic health record (EHR) system. Programmers and data analysts certified in Epic Clarity and Epic Caboodle have access to both the front and back end of Epic. This allows for systematic validation of analytic datasets to ensure data quality and strengthen scientific conclusions.

The team works directly with you to evaluate available data sources and identify the data needed to support each research question. Our Data Core also has experience preparing data for research network participation, including:

Biostatistics Core

Our Biostatistics Core provides expertise and guidance in research design and statistical analysis. Engaging at the study’s inception, this team ensures hypotheses are clearly specified and evaluates the scientific merit and feasibility of proposed studies.

Services include:

  • Sample size and power calculations
  • Statistical analysis plan (SAP) development
  • Analysis of complex datasets derived from real-world EHR data
  • Collaboration on internal, foundation, external, private and federally funded grants

Research Technology Core

Our Research Technology Core serves as a connector between research teams and Baylor Scott & White's centralized information services infrastructure. This team facilitates security and technology reviews, software acquisition, Epic research support and technical project management to support research initiatives from planning through execution.
