Baylor Scott & White Sports Medicine and Concussion Center – Park Cities helps patients recover from injuries and resume healthy, active lives.

James C. Sterling, MD, has been practicing sports medicine and treating concussions since 1987. He also practices physical medicine and rehabilitation (PMR), which focuses on the management of disorders that alter function and performance.

Board-certified in sports medicine, concussion and conservative spine specialist, Dr. Sterling uses a holistic approach to alleviate musculoskeletal problems and return patients to daily routines and recreational activities.

  • More about Dr. Sterling

A sports enthusiast and avid fan of all sports, Dr. Sterling was the Head Physician for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy, charged with overseeing medical personnel and athletic trainers who supported the U.S. Olympic athletes.

Previously, Dr. Sterling was the Head Physician for the 2000 U.S. Paralympic Team in Sydney, Australia, as well as a physician for the 1998 U.S. Winter Olympic Team in Japan and 1996 Paralympic team in Atlanta, GA.

In addition, Dr. Sterling serves on the Concussion Oversight Team for many area school districts. Each concussion oversight team establishes a return-to-play protocol based on peer-reviewed scientific evidence for a student's return to interscholastic athletics practice or competition following the force or impact believed to have caused a concussion.

Dr. Sterling’s philosophy is to provide compassionate and kind care that focuses not only on the relief of pain and suffering but helps patients return to activities that give them quality of life.
